Dysynni valley itself has a lot to offer, being long or short walks across hills, mountains and streams. Cader Idris at just under 3,000ft has fascinated walkers and climbers for well over two hundred years. If you'r ambitions as a walker are more modest but you still enjoy stunning views, Craig yr Aderyn (Bird Rock) rising steeply from the flat valley floor, less rugged but no less attractive. Paths wind up beside the famous Dolgoch falls. But to many the jewel of the valley is Talyllyn lake. Whatever your ability and level of fitness you'll discover miles of quiet and rewarding walks wherever you go. Cycling routes which all the family can enjoy. Take a visit to Castell-y-Bere a breathtaking view of the entire length of the valley. Built by Llewlllyn Fawr in 1283, It is one of the most dramatically sited castles.
Tywyn is a small friendly town with a good range of shops and a weekly market during summer months. Families will find plenty to occupy children, an indoor swimming pool at the leisure centre, cinema, skateboard park, tennis and mini golf course. The Centre for Alternative Technology in Corris is a short drive away and there are several pony trekking centers and cycle hire shops.
